The newly launched 24-hour fraud hotline is the latest tool the City Councils investigations team will use to crack down on people claiming housing benefit and council tax benefit illegally.
This number will link callers who want to report benefit cheats directly to Leicester City Council's Revenues and Benefits Investigations Team.
Residents are already able to report their suspicions of benefit fraud to the council, but investigators hope introducing a dedicated phone line straight through to them will encourage more people to use it and report cheats.
