Leicestershire Liberal Democrats Publish Alternative Policy on Home to School Transport

When the Conservatives announced their intentions last November to pursue a new Home to School Transport policy based on 'nearest school only', Simon Galton, leader of the Liberal Democrat group, left comments exposing the flaws with such an approach.

Finding the Tory approach completely unacceptable, the Liberal Democrats have used the time to work up alternative proposals which would address most of these problems. The alternative proposals were published at the Scrutiny Commission meeting at 2pm. During the course of the meeting it was revealed that Council policy officers would be looking into these proposals further and reporting back at the next Scrutiny Commission meeting on 26th March.
