Liberal Democrat highlight Tory double standards on cuts

2 Jun 2010

Liberal Democrat Councillor David Bill has issued a statement responding to a petition from residents in Markfield about their school bus being cut. Cllr David Bill, issued a statement that outlined how the Liberal Democrats had proposed to save the school bus now under threat.

David Bill, Lib Dem Transport Spokesman said: "in my statement I am responding directly to the concerns raised by the parents of pupils attending South Charnwood High from Markfield and Field Head. We spent a long time trying to take the worst cuts out of the council budget.

I feel strongly that this particular issue is just the beginning with other areas like the Hinckley to Stoke Golding St Martins High School Bus in a similar position."

Dr Sarah Hill CC, Deputy Leader said: "this situation is exactly the sort of problem we warned about. After the budget, the reality of putting these cuts into place involves a cost to local communities. I think this is one cut that needs to be reviewed not on a case by case basis but entirely."
