Over 60s can swim free of charge at any Leicester City Council leisure centre

The Lib Dem led Leicester City Council are now offering free aerobic classes, gym sessions, badminton, squash, aqua aerobics and even rock climbing to those aged 60-plus, thanks to a grant from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.

Swimming has already been free of charge for older people in the city since April, resulting in a 30% increase in the number of swimmers. This year the number of over 60s swimming has risen from 12,000 to 16,000.

Cllr Roger Blackmore, Leader of Leicester City Council said, "Regular exercise such as swimming will keep you fit and healthy, I hope many pensioners across the city will take advantage of these free offers of exercise."
