Local Liberal Democrats have today expressed surprise at Michael Howard's decision to visit Welford Road Police station. During the last Conservative Government Michael Howard was the Minister personally responsible for cutting the number of police despite his promise to deliver more.
Commenting on the selection by the Conservatives of Chris Heaton-Harris MEP, Stuart Bray the Lib Dem Agent for Leicester South said:
Lib Dem local campaigner Cllr Parmjit Gill today visited Eyres Monsell Community Centre with Shadow Cabinet Minister for Work and Pensions Steve Webb MP and local councillor Mark Farmer. The Lib Dem team met with local pensioners at the community centre for lunch to discuss community matters. Top concerns for local residents are the closure of local Post Offices and the Labour candidate's record of closing homes for the elderly in Leicester.
Following the UK's hottest summer on record, escalating heatwaves and severe droughts have triggered catastrophic blazes across the country, damaging delicate ecosystems and destroying homes.
The Liberal Democrats will continue to stand in solidarity with trans and non-binary communities, defending equal rights, personal dignity and safety for all.
The Liberal Democrats are taking a stand to hold tech companies accountable, equip the police with the right powers, and build a digital world where women and girls can live safely and without fear.
